SWEA Christmas Festival

Hello Everyone
we hope that you all had a wonderful halloween. For those of you on who did not make it on friday, we got to see firemen and a fire truck, all thanks to the brilliance of a smoke machine
SWEA christmas fair is fast approaching.
the dates are Nov 21 -22 from approx 9-5
we also need help on the Friday evening to set up. As previously mentioned me lisette is busy working another section of the festival as is Lisa and Lise and Gun. This is SWEAs and our biggest and only fundraiser of the year. It is also a fabulous opportunity to get the word out on Sweden and our school.
Many of you have already volunteered your time to help. we are now finalizing our schedule. we will be running the Tombola, lottery with mostly kids prices. we have already collected many of these prices. If you would like to donate any items you may bring them to school.

Please email Gun, gun_pelle@hotmail.com with your preferance of morning or afternoon and sat or sunday and she will pencil you in.
we also need some of our older kids to work in the wrapping section.

Misdommar!

OBS. På grund av det dåliga vädret som väntas imorgon så flyttar vi Midsommarfirandet tills på söndag, samma tid och plats. Hoppas ni kan komma!!

Due to the bad weather we are expecting tomorrow we will postpone the Midsummer celebrations until Sunday, same time and place. Hope you can make it!!

We hope to se as many of you as possible at our Midsummer celebration in Lowville park. Saturday June 20th at 2 pm. Bring your friends and family.

A big thank you to everyone that came out on June 6th, it was a beautiful day in the park.

I you are not returning in September please send us a mail so we know. We will be organizing new class lists in the coming weeks so check back on Student web during the summer for updates.

Remember our Angels this summer. If your child would like to have a charity event this summer like a garage sale or lemonade stand to benifit our Angels at the Hospital, email me pictures and we will post your story right here on our web site.

Hello All
 
We look forward to seeing you all this Friday. This will be our last official class off the year before our end of the year celebration. June 6th at 12 to 3 at Lowville park.
 
I look forward to hearing the rest of the presentations you have all worked so hard at. We will also see a slide show from our Zoo trip and practise some more songs for june 6th.
 
I would also like to point out that this is the last class for Stephanie! Unfortunately Steph will not be able to attend June 6th either due to a trade show, so this will be our time to say goodbye to a much loved and respected teacher. Stephanie has promised to step in as a substitute next year or if needed, but with her new business endeavours doing so well she will not have the time to stay on full time. We would like to Congratulate Stephanie and let her know that she will be missed and send out a Huge thank you for all that you have done for SSH and our Children. THank you Stephanie.
 
As always please let me know if you will not be able to make it on Friday.

Tack for en undebar dag pa Toronto Zoo!

The weather was not too bad really…. and we ended up having a fantastic day at Toronto Zoo.

THANK YOU TO ALL KIDS AND PARENTS WHO WERE INVOLVED WITH MAKING THIS TRIP SO MUCH FUN FOR ALL.

We got to pet and FEED the sting ray (Rockor) and sharks (Hajar), we met the Elephant keeper and asked Way to many questions, it was great to see everyone get so involved, and we met the Rhino keeper among many other things.

I think that the favorite parts for most of you were the Gorillas…

We will talk about some of the animals we met and see a slide show of our trip after the rest of the term projects are presented at our next class.

Zoo is a go rain or shine!

Thank you All for your Incredible presentations last night!

It was so great to see all the hard work you had put into your projects.

Just a quick note to say that the School Trip today is GO. Rain or shine we will go to the Toronto Zoo.

The bus will leave promptly at 9 from Glen Abbey church in Oakville, our school.

For those of you driving we will meet by the information to the right of the entrance at 9.45 to 10. Please make sure to bring extra socks and a sweater.

Presentation on Astrid Lindgren on Friday

Hello All

On Friday we will begin our presentations on Astrid Lindgren, we will do as many as we have time for and then wrap up with a movie and fika.

We are very excited to see what you guys have come up with. We will have a lap top available on site and a white screen so if some of you older kids would like to do your presentation on the computer that is great. 

We will continue our presentations next class as well. Remember that for the little kids, just bringing in a show and share is enough, for ex if you like Pippi and doll will suffice, it is a matter of inclusion with all groups.

On saturday we will meet in the school parking lot and our bus will depart promptly at 9am. So please make sure that you are on time. We would like to ask the kids to wear a Swedish T-shirt of jersey if you have one. If not we will have some available on the bus as well. Also remember that we do have shirts available for sal on our web site under Swedish Merchandise. if you are not going on the bus we will meet at the information centre at Toronto Zoo.

We are getting close to the end of the school year and our big celebration at Lowille park the 6th. We hope that you can make it and I know that we will have a great time just like last year. If it rains we will be in our school gymnasium.

We will also begin to accept registrations for fall 09 starting Friday. In Fall we will welcome ANETTE KERNER as a new teacher. We are currently working on high school accreditation credits and if this comes through for the fall, GUN will lead this new group.

We are still seeking volunteers for our school trip. It will not happened if we are not able to get a committee together. So if you are interested in a trip to barnens o i sweden next summer, you need to volunteer for this commute in the next week or the project will be put on hold indefinitely. Remember most of the leg work is already completed for this trip.

Regarding our Angels, if at anytime you would like to send a card, letter , movie or gift to your angels, please just bring it to school and I will make sure your angels gets it. You need to know how much they appreciate your kindness. We have several angels waiting for a student so if you do not have one and would like to be part of this unique opportunity to be an angel to some one in need, please let me know.  

I would again like to THANK TERTRA PACK CANADA for their generous donation of juice to SSH. This helps out our fika time immensely.

Skol resa till Toronto ZOO

On Friday we will be talking about Valborg,and we will be making May flowers.

We will also have  chance to finish our post cards that we will started last week. Not to worry if you do not have your sheet we have extra ones in class.

We will also offer a unique opportunity to become pen pals with the students of a School in Sweden. Lise will be talking about this in class on Friday.

On Saturday May 16th, we are invited to a school trip to TORONTO ZOO. SSH will cover the costs involved with this trip and have arranged for a school bus to drive us.
Please see the attached form and bring it in on Friday or mail it as per instructions.
We will also visit the Sting Ray exibit and learn about animals in both Swedish and English.

Since we did not have enough interest and with all the additional costs of our new facility and insurance, our school trip to Sweden is Postponed as earlier mentioned. However, we are currently looking for Committee member for a school trip to sweden for next summer. If we can get a committee of parents and volunteers set up this is still a very exciting opportunity. We will also have more funding available come next summer. We are still able to book our cottage at Barnens o for Summer 2010. Please contact me ASAP if you would be interest in serving on this committee. remember that most of the leg work is done, as the location and costs have already been researched.

We will be having a parent night in later May where we will be discussing our Lucia committee and SWEA committee as well, and we hope that as many of you as possible can make it. There we will also discuss the opportunity of SSH to be able to issue half credits for high school international language courses. More information is to follow.
